Meeting Date and Time: May 8th, 2012 – 6:30pm – mtg is the 2nd Tuesday for this month!

Meeting Agenda: Security

Sponsor: None

Technical Presentation: Stealing Passwords Remotely & Malware Analysis

Windows login passwords are stored in a retrievable form in RAM for the duration of a logged-in session. I will demonstrate an attack that steals those passwords remotely on a fully updated Windows 7 computer and discuss the risk and countermeasures.

When malware infects a system, what exactly does it do? And how can you be sure you have cleaned it all off? I will demonstrate a set of tools that make it easy to analyze how malware operates and find out what it is doing. This is of immediate benefit for incident response teams, software designers, and antivirus developers.
