July 5th - OpenDNS

Meeting Date and Time: July 5th, 2011 – 6:30pm

Meeting Sponsor: OpenDNS

Sponsor Presentation: Securing your DNS
OpenDNS is the favorite and most-trusted reliable DNS + security solution of network admins everywhere. Through DNS-based malware and botnet protection and cloud Web content filtering that requires no appliance or complicated setup, OpenDNS is the only service that protects every device in your company, everywhere it travels. OpenDNS today serves more than 1% of all global Internet traffic and is the choice of Fortune 50 companies, 1 in 3 schools and tens of thousands of SMBs.

Many network admins go to great lengths to secure their networks using costly security appliances, all the while leaving a critical network layer – the Domain Name System - unprotected. This discussion explores the way malware and botnets leverage the DNS to infiltrate your network and cause damage that costs you both time and money. And also how you to easily secure your DNS layer and smartly stop command center communication between malware and your network, rendering the malware harmless. Secure your DNS and block malware and botnets once and for all, before they ever even infect computers on your network, and cut off malware that’s already infected your network at the knees. Protect every device at your company, everywhere it travels.

Presenters Bio’s:
David Ulevitch is the founder and CEO of OpenDNS, the world’s largest DNS + security organization, today making the Internet safer on every device, everywhere it travels for more than 20 million people around the world, including Fortune 50 companies, 1 in 3 schools in the United States and tens of thousands of SMBs. A 2011 World Economic Forum Technology Pioneer and a Business Week Magazine “Most Promising Entrepreneur Under 30,” Ulevitch and his company have singlehandedly changed the way Internet security is handled, allowing a less-invasive and more cost effective approach that facilitates access to good content while blocking access to bad content like phishing, malware and botnets. As a seasoned technologist and renowned security and DNS expert, Ulevitch is looked to as a thought leader by technology professionals in the United States and around the world. Ulevitch is a graduate of Washington University in St Louis, Mo.

Giveaway: Regular raffle items – OpenDNS is giving away goodies including the elusive OpenDNS hoodie, which IT pros have heard of but never actually seen in real life

Meeting Agenda:

Infoblox:
We will be welcoming Chad Scott, Solution Architect with Infoblox who will be going over their DNS/DCHP/IPAM solution plus their newest solution of NetMRI from the recent acquisition of Netcordia .

The first solution centrally manages and automates DNS/DHCP/IPAM for commercial enterprises and government entities around the globe. Infoblox pioneered the appliance model for managing DNS and DHCP and is the leading vendor for integrating DNS/DHCP/IPAM in real-time on hardened appliances (and virtual machines). The Infoblox solution delivers critical functionality for high availability, delegated administration, integrated IP address management, full network audit logs, Anycast , DHCP failover, DDNS, automated DNSSEC, and full integration with Microsoft DNS/DHCP. Infoblox appliances are also available as virtual machines for VMware ESI and ESXi servers, Cisco ISR 2800/3800 series routers and Riverbed Steelhead appliances.

The second Infoblox solution, NetMRI, is a network management product focused on network change and configuration management (NCCM) for layer 2 and 3 devices (switches, routers, firewalls). It enables you to automate network change, see the impact of changes on network health, manage network configurations and meet a wide variety of compliance requirements. Offering physical and virtual appliance deployment options, NetMRI audits multi-vendor infrastructures, identifies anomalies early and speeds resolution and automates network changes.
